hastings
Memory is a fragment of our past, a synthesis of amorphous sensory images imbued with emotion. Most of my childhood memory has been captured in color and vague forms of taste, touch and smell. The familiar tastes, touch and smells can only be recognized when encountered in the present but color can be expressed and shared with others in painting and preserved in the future. The current series of paintings represent those memory fragments; the painting’s colors, surface, and the kinetic energy of its brush stokes can trigger similar experiences from the artist to the viewer.
